A non-molestation order is aimed at preventing your partner or former partner from using or threatening violence against you or your children, intimidating, harassing or pestering you, in order to ensure the health, safety and well-being of yourself and your children.
Domestic violence may contribute towards the breakdown of a relationship or, indeed, be the cause of the relationship actually breaking down and can have both physical and emotional effects on someone’s life, including any children of a relationship. This can be an extremely frightening, emotional and difficult time and our experienced family law team understands the sensitivity required in dealing with such situations and can offer expert advice and guide you in the right direction to enable you to put an end to the abusive behaviour and move forward with your life. Under new legislation, a breach of a non-molestation order is now a criminal offence. However, you are also able to take the perpetrator back to the family court for breaking the order.
