UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) are developing a digital immigration system. This means replacement of physical documents with an online record of your immigration status. This is known as an eVisa.

All Biometric Residence Permits (BRP) and Cards (BRC) will expire on 31 December 2024. To prove your immigration status after this date you will need to replace your BRP with an eVisa, The expiration of your BRP card does not affect your immigration status.

You should take action to create a UKVI account and access your eVisa before your BRP expires, so you can continue to prove your immigration status easily.

We can help you with setting up your eVisa account online.

You will need:

  • your BRP number (or visa or immigration application number)
  • your passport (if you do not have a BRP)
  • access to an email address and phone number
  • access to a smartphone

The documents being replaced are:

  • biometric residence permits (BRP)
  • biometric residence cards (BRC)
  • passport endorsements, such as indefinite leave to enter wet ink stamps
  • vignette stickers in passports, such as entry clearance or visa vignettes
